Last Minute Holiday Hosting Ideas

Are you hosting this month and don’t want to leave town to put together a great spread?  We have a few great ideas for you.

Only want to make one stop?  There is always the classic chips and salsa from Circle K or the Wheatley Market, but you could also stop into the Briar Patch and grab some milk chocolate pretzels or peppermint and white chocolate popcorn.  If you’re interested in actually making something, there are some great staples you can pull together from the Village Resource Center.

For example, grab some sour cream, onion soup mix and vegetables and put together veggies and dip.  You could add cheese and crackers to make the spread a little more substantial.  Or, if you want to make something, consider some pinwheels (https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/14961/party-pinwheels/).  Looking to do something warm?  Pull together a taco bar.  Stop into the Anchor for nacho cheese and a box of taquitos to make a bit more of a spread.   More interested in a sweet snack?  Make a slow cooker of hot chocolate and put out some cookies, either from the Village Resource Centre, the baked goods section at the Anchor, or home made.

A stop at the Briar Patch would enhance any of these ideas.  Add a great jelly to the cheese and crackers, or grab a dip mix instead of the onion soup mix.  Check out the selection of baking mixes – they are sure to impress. Put out that peppermint white chocolate popcorn with the hot chocolate- they’ll go great together.

Spend more time hosting this holiday season, and less time driving out of town to the grocery store to do it!
