General Information
Q: When and where is the plant sale taking place?
A: Join us this Sunday, June 14th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Ivan Coulter Park. We look forward to seeing you there!
Q: What kind of plants will be available?
A: We pride ourselves on offering a wide selection:
- Annuals: A beautiful selection provided by our devoted sponsors, DeGoey’s and Moody’s.
- Edibles: We will have a variety of vegetable plants and berry bushes perfect for your home garden.
- Perennials: A wide variety of locally-grown perennials and surprise gems curated by our members.
- Native Plants: A special emphasis on native Southwestern Ontario plants that support our local pollinators. Some of these will be available as plugs from a grower. These have excellent root systems and are ready to establish themselves, though they do appreciate being planted in the ground quite soon after purchase.

Q: Do you accept pre-orders?
A: Our plant sales are generally “first come, first served” to ensure everyone has a fair chance to find their favorite plants. We recommend arriving early for the best selection!
Pricing & Logistics
Q: How much do the plants cost?
A: Most items will range from $3 to $15. As a general guide, your average 1-gallon perennial will be priced at $8.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept cash and e-transfer. Bringing small denominations of cash is always helpful to keep our checkout process moving smoothly.
Community Engagement & Fun
Q: What else will be happening at the sale?
A: It’s a full community event! We’re proud to be joined by local partners hosting their own fundraisers, including:
- Legion Ladies Auxiliary: Stop by for their delicious bake sale!
- Community Fundraisers: Several local groups, including FishFest, the Village Resource Centre, the Swans and Lions, will be on-site with various activities, such as raffle tickets, to support their important causes.
- Chatham-Kent 4-H: We are excited to have the 4-H team with us to lead fun, hands-on activities for children.
- Free Resources: Be sure to stop by our community tables for free information and items designed to help you make your garden the best it can be!
Gardening Tips & Support
Q: I’m new to gardening. Will there be someone to help me choose the right plants?
A: Absolutely! Our members, easily identified by their green aprons, will be on-site to help. We are also thrilled to have the Windsor Essex Master Gardeners joining us to provide expert advice and recommendations.
Q: How can I get the best advice for my garden?
A: To help us provide the most accurate recommendations for your specific space, please bring as much information as possible about your garden. This includes details regarding light exposure (sun/shade), soil type, and typical moisture levels.
Q: How do proceeds from the sale support the community?
A: Every plant purchased helps fund our local community projects, including our public garden maintenance, educational workshops, and local beautification initiatives throughout Wheatley. Thank you for your support!
